These are indeed troubled days. But there were recent times of equal or greater stress around the globe. Families of servicemen and women in the Second World War felt the daily uncertainty of the future—especially in Europe. In those days, as is it today, the antidote was to stay connected through the mail.

In Burlington ON the voters list relied on 2018 data from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) i.e. the names on deeds. (Burlington Staff/Mayor)

On Apr. 19 the Toronto Star reported the Ontario government will expand the pool for jury selection by using the OHIP database instead of “the property ownership database — managed by (MPAC) —(which) excludes potentially millions of Ontarians from serving their civic duty, including many renters, boarders, students, seniors, spouses who are not named on property titles, transient and low-income people, Indigenous people and those unable to afford property in a red-hot real estate market.”

The “MPAC juror/voter” is disproportionately white, male, older and affluent. The MPAC voter is not a tenant. MPAC voters were automatically registered and automatically got the official mailing from the city with voting credentials and information about poll times and locations.

The 2019 Webster Memorial Trophy Competition will be hosted by the Moncton Flight College August 19-24th.

The Webster is committed to finding  “Canada’s Top Amateur Pilot”. It has operated since its inception in 1932, interrupted by World War II and again in 1954.
