Amateur pilots will square-off in Brampton, Ontario, Sept, 20-24 for the Webster Memorial Trophy.
The competitors will be examined on the technical knowledge required of a private pilot licence holder. They will compete in a navigation flight planning exercise and in tests on pilot-controller communications, airspace and airport operations.
The flight test will highlight upper air work including the chandelle. A second flight test, in a Redbird flight simulator, covers navigation, instrument and precision flying exercises.
