(Nov. 1, 2016) — I had a great time with Georgian College student filmmakers today in Barrie, Ontario. We started off with a poll. The questions engaged the students. The results were informative and an object lesson in market research, a subject dear to my heart.
The students had a very high opinion of Barack Obama. Ninety per cent thought that Hillary Clinton would win the election next week. Four of twenty had doubts about legalizing marijuana. None of them regularly read newspapers.
We talked about storytelling, framing, branding and industry standards while looking over some great political ads, docs and PSAs. The slide show, which includes Daisy Girl, The Deplorables and The Escalator, is below the fold.
